Why we built Calcdesk
Most of life's everyday math isn't complicated — it's just tedious. Working out a loan payment, a tip split, or how many weeks until a due date shouldn't require opening a spreadsheet or digging through a banking app. Calcdesk exists to make that math instant: type in your numbers, get a clear answer, move on with your day.
We started with the calculations we found ourselves reaching for most often — loans, mortgages, BMI, calories, percentages, tips — and built each one to be accurate, fast, and easy to understand at a glance. Every calculator on Calcdesk runs directly in your browser, so your numbers stay on your device.
How our calculators work
Each calculator on Calcdesk is built around a widely recognized formula or method — for example, the standard loan amortization formula, the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for calorie needs, or Naegele's rule for pregnancy due dates. Where a topic has more than one accepted approach, we choose the method most commonly used and explain it on the relevant calculator page.
We aim for clarity over complexity. Each page includes a short explanation of how the calculation works, along with answers to common questions, so you can understand not just the result but why it came out that way.
What Calcdesk is — and isn't
Calcdesk is a free reference tool for exploring numbers and scenarios. It is not a substitute for advice from a licensed financial advisor, doctor, accountant, or other qualified professional. We encourage you to use our calculators as a starting point for understanding a topic, and to consult a professional for decisions that matter — see our Terms & Disclaimer for details.
How Calcdesk is funded
Calcdesk is free to use and supported by advertising. Ads help us keep every calculator free, ad-supported, and without paywalls or required sign-ups. We aim to keep advertising unobtrusive and clearly separated from calculator content. You can read more about how we handle data and cookies in our Privacy Policy.
